Jersey Genesis Triathlon - Port Republic, New Jersey - Triathlon

"Great race to start the Tri season!"

This was our first race in the 2023 season, did it with my boys aged 14 and 16. There were just under 300 participants, so a relatively small race.

Quick and effortless check in morning of the race. Volunteers were very efficient in making this a quick process. Easy to set up More... in transition, which was around 100 meters from the start.

SWIM - Pretty clean and fresh water with almost no current. Bouys were well placed and easy to sight, no issue with the sun for sighting. Volunteers were lined up in boats/paddleboards all along the bouys in case anyone needed help during the swim. Slightly shorter than the regulation 1/2mile, it was around 600meters (instead of 800m).

BIKE - Flat course with a 16-mile out and back route. It was scenic, and there was no traffic. Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the course (scenery, clean paved roads, no traffic) in South Jersey (the only other reference point I have in South Jersey is Atlantic City Tri which is far from scenic!).

RUN - Kind of a circular loop, so you repeat only the first part going out and back. Again, pretty green and clean route all along. Water station placed right out of transition, and I think there were 2 more water stations along the route.

POST RACE - Hot dogs, chips, fruits, beverages - all more than sufficient.

The weather was just perfect - low 60s with very little wind at the start, good cloud cover, and it stayed that way all morning. Little bit of a headwind on the way back on the bike, but it was very manageable.

Volunteers were amazing - very friendly and eager to help! Most folks we talked to there have been doing this for several years. And we will be back as well! Thank you to the staff for this nice family event!
