The Half Marathon ranks as the second most popular race distance in terms of number of finishers. This distance offers a significant challenge to both the beginner and seasoned runner, as it is over twice the distance of a 10K; but because it is much easier to train for and recover from than the marathon, it's a nice middle-ground distance that appeals to many runners. It can also serve as a great tune-up race for an upcoming marathon.
