The Sun Marathon is a Running race in Santa Clara, Utah consisting of a Marathon and Half Marathon and 10K and 5K.
The Sun Marathon has four distances. Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K.
This race purpose is to get runners out of the cold and into the warmth of Southern Utah in the St. George/Santa Clara Area. Though the courses are primarily downhill over the distance there are some rollers and a few climbs. The views during this race are great with huge red rock mountains all around to views of Gunlock Reservoir during the Marathon and a nice river along the Full and Half Marathons.
The Sun Marathon starts at the Fairgrounds in Veyo and crosses the intersection at the Veyo Gas Station (Same intersection of Mile 6 of St George Marathon). The race then goes down a unique route down the Gunlock Road passing Gunlock Reservoir, Follows along the Shivwits Paiutes Tribe land. This route is primarily downhill 2600 feet over 26.2 miles, however this route does have some climbs. The beauty of this course is hard to match. A great way to get some Sun during this time of winter in Utah.
This is a Boston Marathon Qualifier and the course code is UT18001TJD. If you qualify for the Boston Marathon use this code and they can access our results with it and get you into the race.
The Half Marathon starts 13.1 Miles into the Course.
