Originating in Italy in 1970, the Gran Fondo (which essentially means "a big ride") is technically a 120K long, chip-timed from start to finish and offers prizes for the fastest riders. The Gran Fondos in the U.S. have evolved into other distances as well, but whether you're a recreational rider who wants to ride your own pace or a competitive professional athlete aiming to win, the Gran Fondo caters to everyone.
