This year, The Tess Trail Run honors the wonderful young woman behind our name. Tristesse, or Tess as her friends calledKeep Reading her, was a remarkable young woman who died of cancer at the age of 14. She told her mother I have lived a good life. I'm not scared. But I want to make sure you will be okay.
After her death, her mother Laura Gonsalves, and her hospice counselor Lynetta Clark, opened The Tristesse Grief Center in honor of Tess. The Grief Center is a safe place for all grieving hearts, ages 4 to 104. Individuals and families come to The Grief Center to express their emotions, remember their loved one, learn how to make their grief a healthy part of their life, and find hope again.
This year, The Tess Trail Run will raise money to provide professional counseling to 133 people who need help and have no way to pay. Together, we can change 133 lives! That is #WhyWeRun
