About The Armonk for Autism
The Armonk for Autism is a Running race in Armonk, New York consisting of a Kids Run/Fun Run and 5K.
Armonk for Autism is a 5k run/walk to support both people with special needs and their families, and gather the community to fight for those who can't always fight for themselves. Autism is a developmental disability that can affect a person's thought process, behavior, and ability to interact socially. By raising awareness for people with Autism and mental disabilities, we hope that everyone will be more understanding and patient with them, as well as inclined to intervene when others bully or try to take advantage of them.
As a big sister of a boy with autism, this is one of my biggest fears. My brother Morgan is 12 years old, andKeep Reading he goes to HCC middle school. I have no way of knowing how the other kids treat him, but I hope above everything that they can see that although he's acts differently, he's still just a person who needs a little help sometimes. I want to donate the money raised by this race to Byram Hills' Department of Special Education to better not only my little brother's life, but the lives of all of the special needs kids in our community.
