This was my first time running the Capitol Hill Classic and it was a blast. The race starts in Capitol Hill and has a very fun neighborhood feel to it - it's put on by a local school and all race proceeds go to the school. The course is relatively flat

Ran the state side half marathon because I got closed out of the Canada/U.S. Half. But, getting over that disappointment was easier with the 10 am start. Flat course with lots to see. Bridges, parks, sky scrapers, tuba and bag pipe players, costumes and fountains. Detroit is not as broken down

This was a well-organized race with fantastic on-course support. It was really warm (72 degrees and sunny!) and I appreciated the abundant water stations, which usually isn't something I notice. The course has gorgeous views of the ocean outbound along Highway 101, and then you come back on the inner portion
