Athletes will take on their race journey from a 1.2-mile swim in Foster Joseph Sayers Reservoir at Bald Eagle State Park, a scenic 56-mile bike ride through the beautiful rolling hills of Centre and Clinton Counties, culminating with a 13.1-mile run on the campus of Penn State University including a unique finish line experience for athletes inside Beaver Stadium, home to the Penn State University Nittany Lions.
Swim Course
The stunning Bald Eagle State Park hosts our 1.2 mile swim in Foster Joseph Sayers Lake. The single loop, clockwise swim features a beach start and finish with just two right turns. This venue is spectator friendly and a fantastic start to IRONMAN 70.3 Pennsylvania Happy Valley.
Bike Course
Following an exciting swim in Joseph Sayers Lake, athletes will exit Bald Eagle State Park on their 56 mile bike journey through the beautiful boroughs and townships of Happy Valley. The route travels Northeast through Mill Hall before turning South and rolling through lush, valley farmland on the way to climbs over Hublers Ridge and Pleasant Gap. After descending to Centre Hall athletes make their way through more countryside before making a final turn North to the campus of Penn State. Athletes will arrive to the excitement at IRONMAN Village and transition next to iconic Beaver Stadium
Run Course
This 13.1-mile, two-loop run course takes athletes through the beautiful and historical Penn State Campus. The spectator-friendly coursea"a mixture of roads and wide pedestrian walkwaysa"passes by Old Main, The Nittany Lion Shrine, and Berkey Creamery, concluding with an electric finish at the 50 yard line of Beaver Stadium.
