40 Years Of IRONMAN in New Zealand
The oldest IRONMAN race in the world outside of Kona, Hawaii, ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand will host it's 40th edition in 2024, celebrating 40 years of history, stories, achievements and proving that Anything Is Possible.
A bucket list race for all triathletes
The world's second longest-running IRONMAN with a proud and rich history deeply rooted in our hometown of TaupA. The race itself showcases the best of New Zealand's natural wonderland, and more than 2,000 volunteers and thousands of supporters line the streets to cheer you on. You will be welcomed with open arms and will leave enriched with the locals' pure Kiwi spirit.
ROKA Swim Course Description
3.8km swim in the clear, fresh waters of Lake TaupA with a water temperature around 19 degrees Celsius (approximately 64 degrees Fahrenheit). With a deep-water mass start, the course takes swimmers east in a clockwise direction, parallel to the shore. Making a right turn, followed by second right turn, swimmers will follow the buoys and head west toward the Yacht Club to the next turn buoys. The returning leg takes athletes along the shore to the Water Treatment plant, leading them towards the shore.
From the shore, athletes will exit and run 385m crossing Lake Terrace and make their way to the transition zone on Kaimanawa Reserve.
Bike Course Description
The two-lap 180km course starts to the cheers of spectators before riding into the rural landscape surrounding TaupA. Starting at Kaimanawa Reserve, athletes will follow Rifle Range Rd onto Broadlands Rd. There will be two doglegs onto Centennial Drive and View Road. Athletes will take a left onto Vaile Road towards Reporoa via Vaile Rd. The return leg brings riders back along Broadlands Rd to Rifle Range Road to begin a second lap, before finishing back at Kaimanawa Reserve.
Hoka Run Course Description
The Hoka run course is a four-lap 42.2km course leading athletes through town four times. Athletes can take in the lakefront scenery to Rainbow Bay and return.
