Terrain Race - Fort Worth - Ft. Worth, Texas - Obstacle & Mud Runs

"Lame"

I've been to a few 5ks, mud runs, fun runs, etc and this was by far, one of the most poorly organized and lamest (yes lame) race I've ever done. To start, there were no flags, signs, nothing leading to the actual parking area and we actually drove around for More... several minutes before a kind fella on the side of the road gave us directions. The starting line was soooo low energy - music so low you couldn't hear it, announcer basically said: "you guys ready to race?" and we took off. The obstacles were similar to "obstacles" you would see at a kid's playground. The volunteers had literally ZERO energy and basically just stood around the obstacles undistinguished from the actual folks competing. The previous terrain race featured "steps" to allow people like me (5ft tall on a good day) to step up to monkey bars, rings, ropes, etc and actually have a chance to complete the obstacle. Not only was this not an option, the rings and bars were so high, the majority of us could not reach. The course was so poorly tied off that people were confused as to where to go and often ended up going around and missing the different "obstacles". The strength obstacles consisted of dragging a concrete block on a chain in a circle with a diameter of maybe 2 feet?? Previous terrain races included carrying heavy bags of differing weights from one end of the course to the other followed by burpees with puddles in between. In addition, $20 for parking is absurd when the folks responsible for directing traffic are too busy standing around vaping to direct anyone. After the race, the best part is always the swag....there was none. The only upside was the race shirt and metal which were really nice. It looks like more money was spent on those items than the actual race course. All in all, I won't be signing up for this again, free or otherwise. What a shame that this couldn't be better.
