Guardians of the Night 5K - Columbia, South Carolina - Running

The Guardians of the Night 5K is a Running race in Columbia, South Carolina consisting of a 5K.

The Guardians of the Night K9 5K Race/Run is a true night event that offers a fun, flat, fast-paced race -- giving runners the opportunity to run alongside Richland County Sheriff's Department K-9 Deputies and their K-9 partners. This is a certified race course and chip timing will be used for scoring. Awards will follow along with the opportunity to meet and greet with the K-9's and Deputies.

The purpose of this race is to raise funds that cover the K-9 unit's veterinary expenses and to meet other needs of the dogs. The logo picture is of a dog named Fargo who was shot in the line of duty five years ago.

Please consider volunteering and/or participating in the event. I have personally met the human and canine officers in the unit and they are a really fun and personable bunch. I promise it will be a good time. I've also pledged to work with them, enlisting the help of fellow S.H.A.M.E. SC members, to get stricter penalties under the law in place for anyone who harms a police dog.
