Race Starting Location:
Boring Trailhead Park, Boring, OR
The Boring Marathon, Boring Half Marathon, Boring 8k is a Running race in Boring, Oregon consisting of a Marathon and Half Marathon and 8K and Kids Run/Fun Run.
The Boring Marathon is a Boston Qualifier. Woohoo! Yea! Right on! Baaa (get that goat out of here). So, if you want to qualify for Boston, first you need to sign up on our registration page, and then you need to actually train and run really fast and get a decent time and then hope and pray you made it. We will do our part and officially time the marathon, provide fantastic aid stations, give you the most outstanding, supportive, cheering, well-groomed and darn good-looking volunteers in the world, and make it a truly Boring experience that we know will forever be your favorite marathon this side of Estacada. Come join us, won't you, please.
2022 registration opened November 15th. Woohoo! You can use the link to go to RunSignUp and register for a race! Prices are insanely cheap (seriously, compare to any other races out there). And we have goats...lots of goats. And slugs on the trail...lots of slugs. And hopefully bagels at the end this year...lots of bagels. Prices go up every other month beginning January 1, so try to register before the increase. If you are a return runner, a member of Marathon Maniacs, Half Fanatics, 50-State Marathon Club (and Half Marathon Club), or Eastwind Running and Endurance, contact us to get a discount code. Register early, register often, register for the same race many times, we don't care (although we will only give you one finisher award). As usual, we will have finisher medals, a Boring tech race shirt, a goody bag, custom bibs, lots of food and drinks at the end, and just a great time. We will also have another kid's mile, where all kids 12 and under can run a mile and get a ribbon, for free. And remember, all proceeds (and we mean everything this race brings in) goes to our middle school and high school track & field and cross country teams, so the kids benefit. They even get the leftover bagels! We certainly hope you can join us. We will try to be better about updating this page more often from now until the race so you know what is happening and what you are missing if not coming.
Our plan for 2022 is much like 2021 with an in-person race but we will continue to offer a virtual option, although you'll be missing out on the goats and slugs, which is really part of the race day experience, as well as saying you ran in Boring, Oregon!
SWAG, SWAG and SWAG - One more amazing opportunity from your friends at the Boring Marathon. We have opened a swag store on RunSignup where you can purchase online items from the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 races, including the belt buckle medals and those famous pint beer glasses. You can see the items on the tab above (um, a hint: it is the one marked "swag store" if you couldn't figure it out) or at RunSignup. You can order directly from your friends here in Boring (just email racedirector@boringmarathon.com) or buy through the store. Fill out your holiday gift list at this one website. Buy lots and buy often. Give the gift of boring. And if you have never run a marathon, you can still buy the shirt and medal and pretend you did to impress your friends. Question: How do you know if someone ran a marathon? Don't worry, they'll tell you all about it! So, this is your chance to own a piece of history. And no, we don't sell goats (but you can come to our races and pet them...even go for a run with them. How cool is that!)
See other tabs above for registration, route info, volunteer/donate/sponsor info, Swag Store, and history/slide show -from your phone this is accessed from the triple line button at the top of this page.
Run for a purpose - The Boring races are all entirely non-profit and all proceeds, outside of the basic costs to put on a quality event, go to the Sam Barlow High School Track & Field and Cross Country Teams and the West Orient Middle School Track team. The folks who put this on are all volunteers who love running and love our kids. So when you register, sponsor, or donate you help cover costs for race permits, medals, shirts, food and drink, etc., and then all the rest goes to the kids. We are building the next generation of runners and your participation in this event will make their high school running experience one that will hopefully influence their lifestyle for the next 50 years. Thanks for investing in the future of our kids and in our sport.
Respect the run - Just a personal note: In my opinion, no matter the activity, whether motorcyclists, horse riders, bicyclists, or runners, those of us who share the roads and trails with others are diplomats for our sport. If we act poorly and do not respect traffic and drop litter and act unprofessional, then that reflects on all of us and people will think poorly of us as a group. Please respect the run. Thanks.
