Since this is a fund raiser for an athletic department, specifically for cross country, it is surprising that it is not runner friendly. At the start runners and walkers were funneled through a narrow chute at the same time so runners had to zig zag through walkers for a half More... mile. Walkers were not even asked to start in the back. No course map was available and no course directions given. The course was two full laps and a couple of blocks but signs on course identified Lap 3. For no good reason most of the race was on roadways but part of the race was on sidewalks right alongside the roadways. Registration was $35 with an additional charge of $15 for a shirt if not preregistered. A steep price for a 5K race with nearly worthless goody bag and where no medals or trophies were awarded. Winners received a cheap cooling towel and a discount coupon for Dick's. Post race refreshments very basic. When awards were made the MC didn't give times or even what age groups the winners were in. I support Lakota East Cross Country. Next year I will just mail a check.
