Guardian Games 5K - Albuquerque, New Mexico - Running

The Guardian Games 5K is a Running race in Albuquerque, New Mexico consisting of a 5K.

Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Rescue will host the Law Enforcement Torch Run "Guardian Games for Special Olympics" presented by Mark's CASA.
The objective of the Guardian Games is to build an inclusive community and develop a closer relationship between Special Olympics athletes, public safety and Albuquerque businesses while bringing Albuquerque families to meet and greet with first responders through a fun and unique format. The general public is invited to participate in a 5K Downtown Community Run that will kick off at 10:00 a.m. at Civic Plaza. After the 5K Run and 1 mile fun walk, fans are invited to stay and watch the Battle of the Badges (APD vs AFR), where both public safety agencies will compete against each other in five different challenges: Football Toss, Police Car Push, Rowers, Fire Truck Pull, and 5K (scores will be combined from morning 5K)
Special Olympics New Mexico provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a community-building program within Special Olympics that promotes and empowers New Mexico law enforcement agencies to raise awareness and funds year-round for Special Olympics New Mexico -while providing opportunities, encouragement, and hope to SONM athletes and families in the process.
