The Market Street Mission 5K Race for Recovery is a Running race in Parsippany, New Jersey consisting of a 5K.

WHY RACE?

You might be wondering a beyond simply a fun event, why is this race important? Why do people join?
For Irene, who has been running with us for the past few years, our race is a way to honor her son who passed away. aI race to keep my son's memory alive through Market Street Mission,a she said. And, because it is a Race for Recovery, she said, aI race for all that have made it, for those still fighting, and for those who lost the fight.

Chris, who is part of the Market Street Mission's Life Change Addiction Recovery Program and also the aMission Possiblea team captain, chose to run this race for a few reasons. First, it's a good opportunity to have fun in a sober environment. But more importantly, the training process is helping him develop skills he will need for his lifelong recovery process. aDedication, hard work, and perseverance a that's what I'm getting from the race and that's what I'm going to get out of my recovery,a he said.

This race is a way to show support for those struggling with substance abuse, as well as their loved ones (this keeps the race near to the heart of the mission of our addiction recovery program!) Along with showing our solidarity with those in recovery, this race also serves as a way to raise financial support for the Mission and its programs.
As Chris said, aPeople should come join us and run because it gives a lot of hope to people in recovery knowing that we have support and good fellowshipa. Join us each year on July 4 and show your support of those running the race of recovery.
