Excelsior Firecracker Run - Excelsior, Minnesota - Running

The Excelsior Firecracker Run is a Running race in Excelsior, Minnesota consisting of a 5K and 10K and 1 Mile.

Good morning Firecracker runners and volunteers. In consultation with South Lake Police Department, the Excelsior Firecracker Run will only hold the 1 mile and 5K races today. The 1 mile will begin as scheduled at 7:30am and the 5K will now begin at 7:35am.

There will be no 10K run, participants may select to run either the 5K or the 1 Mile.

10K a cancelled due to pending weather, participants may choose to run the 1 mile or 5K


Enjoy challenging, scenic terrain that includes stunning views of historic downtown Excelsior and Lake Minnetonka as you navigate the 1 Mile, 5K or 10K route. With rest stops, live music and plenty of enthusiastic volunteers along the way, runners can expect a fun-filled Fourth of July morning.

The Firecracker Run raises money to support the Excelsior Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce July 4 Fireworks. Firecracker Run kicks-off a full day of festivities in downtown Excelsior that includes a kid's parade, sand sculpture contest, popsicle social, petting zoo, and of course, fireworks.

Minnetonka Community Education coordinates the Excelsior Firecracker Running events in partnership with the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce is in charge of the overall July 4th Celebration in Excelsior. 30% of the proceeds from the Firecracker Running events are donated by Minnetonka Community Education to the Chamber of Commerce for the Excelsior Fourth of July Fireworks display.
