AID STATIONS
You will find six aid stations approximately every two miles starting at mile 2.4. Aid stations will provide water and Powerade. They will also have first-aid bags and cell phones for emergencies.
The aid station near mile 8 will have bananas and other snacks.
SAFETY
The race course uses roads that have minimal vehicle traffic, especially on a Saturday morning. However, please remain alert throughout the race, stay on the shoulder of the road, and obey instructions from course marshals.
State troopers, county sheriffs, and Durango police will be in various locations along the course to alert vehicles to the race in progress.
DROP BAGS
Feel free to bring a bag to the start line. We will have a vehicle to collect drop bags and transport them to the finish line. Please mark your bag with your name and/or bib number.
WEATHER
Average temperature at 8am in late August is 55 degrees. Expect temperatures to reach 70 degrees by 10am and continue to rise as the morning progresses. Use the aid stations and stay hydrated. While thunder showers are common in August, they typically do not occur before noon.
RESULTS & AWARDS
Race results will be available as quickly as possible and posted at the finish line as well as on our website.
Top male and female finishers in each age group will receive prizes.
SPECTATOR LOCATIONS
There are several great spots along the course to watch the runners go by. We recommend the top of CR 125 (mile 1.5), the bottom of CR 125 (mile 5.5), and on CR 210 about 1.5 miles up from Bodo where the lake begins. All of these spots have pull-outs where you can park.
RACE TIMING
The race will be professionally timed with timing chips. Please ensure that your bib number is visible and on the front of your shirt, as this is the backup timing system in the unlikely event that your chip fails to register a time.
TIME LIMITS
We welcome runners of all abilities, and there is no official time limit on the race. You can be out on the course as long as you like. However, the finish line will close at 11:30am and the last aid station at mile 11.5 will close at 11am. Therefore, if you are slower than a 15 minute/mile pace, you should plan to carry your own water.
REFUNDS & TRANSFERS
As with most races, we are unable to offer refunds or transfers.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS
Homewood Suites is our official hotel partner for the race. They are located just one block from Ska Brewing.
