ABOUT THIS RACE:
Race Starting Location:
4771 Sly Park Road, Pollock Pines, CA
The Trail Run at Sly Park Lake is a Running race in Pollock Pines, California consisting of a Half Marathon and 10 Miles and 10K and 20 Miles and 5K Trail Run.
Start/Finish Sly Park Recreation Center Area Event Center.
Run around Sly Park Lake. Course is primarily single track run in beautiful Pollock Pines. Great running, some technical sections roots, rocks, very challenging course, no big climbs or long downhills.
50k - 3 loops around the lake.
20 mile - 2 loops The first 10 mile loop run counterclockwise. For the most part it is fairly easy, no big climbs or big downhills. Mostly single track trails with some ups downs & a few technical sections, some rocks to be concerned with - stay focused. Your first 10 mile loop parallels the lake. It is challenging sure, but the 2nd loop takes you up on the horse trails on both sides of the lake. So yes, it is much tougher but if you are a trail runner, you will love these trails - great stuff. Your first 10 mile loop will be the easiest of the two loops & fastest. The 2nd loop has some good climbs & downhills to contend with but you will enjoy the challenge. I have had a home for years very close to the lake & have trained over there for years in the heat & the dead of winter. These trails will get you ready to run anything you have planned in the future.
Half Marathon - 1 loop then a 5k out and back.
10 mile - 1 loop
10k course description. New Distance this year.
10k runners, first run the 5k course return to the start/finish using the aid station then going back out running WEST, the opposite direction previously run.
10k runners will now run a out & back section following YELLOW RIBBONS again over to the lake, then returning to the start/finish. You are DONE.
The 5k runners will go out with all of the other distances first running EAST. Yellow Ribbons will mark the 5k course. The 5k runners will also be crossing Mormon Emigrant Road twice. 5k runners please use extreme CAUTION when crossing this road at the beginning and towards the end of your race. 5k runners when you first run over at the lake, you will run along the lake on the hiking trail with all the other distances for approximately 1.5 miles. At approximately 1.5 miles the 5k runners will take a VERY SHARP RIGHT TURN up onto the horse trail and begin running back to the finish. 5k runners will eventually run back onto the hiking trail along the lake returning to the finish on the exact same course they ran out on.
