Friendship 5K - Los Angeles, California - Running

The Friendship 5K is a Running race in Los Angeles, California consisting of a Kids Run/Fun Run.

Friendship Academies have realized the need to educate families on the importance of incorporating physical activity and adopting healthier nutrition choices and habits.

Childhood obesity is a national epidemic. Nearly 1 in 3 children (ages 2-19) in the United States are overweight or obese, putting them at risk for serious health conditions, heart disease, asthma, cholesterol, and high blood pressure. In the communities we serve, the obesity rates are as follows: Wilmington 30.4%, Carson 24.2%, Compton 19.1%, Torrance 19%, Lomita 17.3%

As early childhood professionals, advocates for children, and leaders in schools and communities, we are currently executing a Health and Wellness campaign to address preventative measures for childhood obesity in the communities we serve. Friendship Academies has partnered with Aztlan Athletics Foundation, promoting physical activity since 1976, to host our 1st Annual 5K Run/Walk & Stroller Roll for all the children, families, and the community to promote physical activity!
