The LeMars Sprint Triathlon is a Triathlon race in Le Mars, Iowa consisting of a Super Sprint.
COURSE: 300 yard swim an the LeMars 6 lane outdoor pool. 15 mile out and back bike on road C30 & K64. 5K run in a residential area. All transitions will take place in the outdoor pool parking lot (bikers and runners exit using the north exit and return at the west).

SWIM: Swim will be completed in the LeMars Outdoor Pool. It is heated and kept roughly at 82 degrees. It is a 6 lap snake course. Swimmers will cross under the rope every time they touch the west wall of the pool. Swimmers will start, one at a time, approximately every 30-seconds. Your race time will start when start your swim. Please keep all extra materials (towels, shoes, etc) out of the pool area. The pool will be set up for practice on Friday from 5:00 - 8:00pm, during packet pickup. Friday night packet pickup is strongly encouraged.
ONE (T1) - SWIM TO BIKE: Bikes must be racked in the transition area. Spaces will be designated by bib number. If you are unable to find a space notify a race official. Enter the transition area from the pool after the swim by crossing the timing mat and exit by running your bike over the timing mats in the lot exit prior to mounting your bike. You are not allowed to ride your bike in the transition area. No aiding other participants during transitions. A one minute penalty will be added to your time if you are caught giving or receiving aid to enhance your finish. TEAMS: the biker must put their own chip on and unrack their own bike. No team members can assist in this process. ALL teams must exchange their ankle bands at their assigned transition spot.
BIKE:15 Miles ride in LeMars country side, returning to LeMars Outdoor pool parking lot. The course is 7.5 miles out , turn right on K-64 and proceed 2 miles south on K-64 before returning back to the pool and 7.5 miles returning back to the pool parking lot. Place bike number over the cross bar so that it is visible by event officials on either side of your bike. Place helmet number on the front of your helmet so that it is visible by event officials. Participants must wear helmet, helmet numbers and bike numbers during the bike portion of the race. Bikers must walk their bikes both ways over the timing mats. Slow down and Dismount signs will be posted starting 1 block out from the transition area. You are expected to adhere to the signs. Volunteers will be present to help direct traffic on the bike route to keep all participants as safe as possible. The roads are not closed so watch for vehicles on the road. For your own safety bike helmets will be required to participate in this years event.
TRANSITION TWO (T2) - BIKE TO RUN: Be sure to cross the timing mat when returning to LeMars Outdoor Pool parking lot. Slow Down and Dismount signs will be posted 1 block prior to the transition area. Dismount bike upon entering the transition area and run your bike to your individual area. Place participant number (BIB) on front of shirt, shorts, or triathlon BIB belt. No aiding or receiving aid in the transition area. A one minute penalty will be added to your own time if you are caught giving or receiving aid. TEAMS: Bikers must rack their own bike and then take off their timing chip. No team members can assist in this process. All teams MUST their ankle bands at their assigned transition spot.
RUN: AN ATTEMPT IS BEING MADE TO REDUCE THE HILLS ON THE RUN ROUTE. 3.1 Mile out and back run with the start/finish being at the LeMars Outdoor Pool. Run begins by exiting out the North side of the pool parking lot. The running route is a mix of hills (balance of both up & down hill) and flats through residential LeMars. Streets are not closed, please watch for traffic. Volunteers will be on hand to help direct the traffic and athletes.
