Westwood Dad's Dash - Westwood, New Jersey - Running

"Westwood Dad's Dash 5K Run & Family Walk"

This is the second year I've run this event. What is missing in the title of this event is that this event is dedicated to a fallen Marine from Westwood killed in Afghanistan, Sgt Hrbek. That is the only reason why I ran this 5K Run, to support in the More... memory of a fallen Marine.

The course does a double loop around a park and takes you out into local streets in Westwood. The start of the race is very crowded and narrow. The start of the was basically unannounced and people just took off. The same thing happened the last time I ran this race. The Westwood Fire Department was out on the course showering the runners with water. At certain spots it got to be too much water and I found myself running through streams along the street. Post race Burgers and hot dogs were good. I probably won't be back for a third run.
