Great race with lots of history!

This was my first ultra, so I wasn't really sure what i was getting into even though I talked to a lot of folks who had done the race (all who loved it!). It's extremely well organized, well-staffed with awesome volunteer support. They even organize a practice "run" on the Appalachian trail a few weeks before the race which I highly recommend for those that can do it (I did not and really wish I had, as the trail section was the toughest part for me and I was not prepared for it - it's tough and technical, and was very slippery and snowy this year!). Logistics of picking up packets was easy, getting to the race was easy. There is so much history behind this race, especially being the oldest ultra in the U.S., so that's neat to be a part of. The course is nicely broken up between the Appalachian trail, the C&O Canal trail and the final 8 miles on paved roads into Williamsport. It would definitely recommend it to anyone considering an ultra, but also recommend practicing on trails ahead of time.
