Ran the state side half marathon because I got closed out of the Canada/U.S. Half. But, getting over that disappointment was easier with the 10 am start. Flat course with lots to see. Bridges, parks, sky scrapers, tuba and bag pipe players, costumes and fountains. Detroit is not as broken down

This race is relatively small compared to the huge races, but I liked the personal feel. I enjoyed my finisher's medal and the other runners seemed friendly. The race morning packet-pickup was outstanding.

For a world marathon and after running other world marathons, i expected better logistics, communications and planning. Not enough time between corralls, expo oddly laid and lack of communication for what to do and where to go before hand. Not enough nutrition, ran out before half of the participants came through
