The Morro Bay Triathlon is a Triathlon race in Morro Bay, California consisting of a Sprint Triathlon and Olympic Triathlon.
Morro Bay Triathlon is back and better than ever. It is a true destination triathlon with California flavor. Swim the bay, ride historic highway 1, and run on the hard packed sand on the beach, board walk, dirt roads and paved roads. Come out and enjoy some of the finest multi-sport terrain on the west coast! We offer an alternative kayak and stand-up paddle board course to the non-swimming multi-sport athletes, in addition to the traditional swim portion of an Olympic and Sprint courses.
Morro Bay Triathlon starts in a protected bay in clear, cool water. Dive into our well-marked buoy course for your Olympic or Sprint triathlon! Then ride through the quaint coastal towns of Morro Bay and Cayucos, sandwiching the Pacific Coast Highway 1 views of the Pacific Ocean and surfers ripping the waves.

We pride ourselves on running a safe, fun and challenging event, there will be lots of volunteers and our course is very well marked.
SPRINT LENGTH
Get your feet wet (literally) at this introductory or super speedy distance. If you like enduring for only short periods of time, Sprint is your jam. All the great parts of the race course, none of the extra. In and out! Who doesn't like that?
SWIM a 750 M
Swim 1 counterclockwise loop on the south side of Morro Rock, getting out and going over the mat to register the laps. Always swim with the buoys on your left. Click here to view up to date water quality reports in Morro Bay.
KAYAK/SUP
Tours Morro Bay in clockwise direction, course and turns are clearly marked with buoys. The paddle starts and ends at South Beach. See the Kayak & SUP page for details
BIKE a 20.5 K
Police on course. Our spectacular bike course starts and finish on the Morro Bay Embarcadero and gives a sampling of Hwy 1, the coast and beautiful Cayucos. There will not be an aid station for the bike portion of the sprint distance race. Remember to pack the appropriate amount of nutrition and water on your bike!
RUN a 5.4K
The course is a mix of fire road, boardwalk and hard packed sand, it's flat and very scenic. There will be Aid Stations every 2 miles.
OLYMPIC LENGTH
The classic distance a requiring more training and strategy. Paddle or swim the protected harbor, ride down highway 1 and through seaside Cayucos. On foot, you'll explore some additional rocky areas + at the turn around, the rock brings you home to a sea of supporters at the finish line.
SWIM a 1.5K

BIKE a 40K
Police on course. All athletes must follow the rules of the road. Our spectacular bike course starts and finish on the Morro Bay Embarcadero and gives a sampling of Hwy 1, the coast and beautiful Cayucos, there will be an aid station approximately half way through the ride. Remember to pack the appropriate amount of nutrition and water on your bike!
RUN a 10K
The course is a mix of fire road, road, boardwalk and hard packed sand, it's flat and very scenic. There will be Aid Stations every 2 miles.
