Experience baroque masterpieces
First mentioned more than 800 years ago, Dresden is now home to more than half a million people. Every square metre of the capital of the eastern German state of Saxony is steeped in history. Dresden offers a breathtaking mix of meticulously reconstructed historical buildings, that rose from the ashes of World War II a" and is considered as 'Florence of the North'. Athletes should be prepared for a flair of the dramatic as they cross the finish line, located right in front of one of Europe's most famous opera houses, the Semperoper.

Swim />
The athletes start their race early in the morning with a 1-loop swim course in the Alberthafen directly on the Elbe, which is considered the most important harbour in Dresden. In the harbour basin between trains and cranes, Dresden shows its industrial side.
Bike
The 90km bike course has 500 metres of elevation, and will take athletes along the river Elbe, before they then complete a two-lap course into the district of MeiAen, before heading back to the hub of the crowds in Dresden.
Run
The half marathon stretches from the Elbe along the 'Terassenufer' to the 'Innere Neustadt', where the turning point of the 3-lap course is located. The athletes will pass many of Dresden's most famous buildings on the course: In addition to the 'Frauenkirche', these include the 'Zwinger', the 'Schlossplatz', the 'AugustusbrAcke' and numerous other buildings in the historic Old Town. The finish line is located in the heart of Dresden - right next to one of the most famous venues in the world: the 'Semperoper'.
