Ironman Portugal-Cascais - Cascais - Triathlon

The Ironman Portugal-Cascais is a Triathlon race in Cascais, consisting of a Ironman.

The nation of historic naval pioneers welcomes the world to Portugal's third full-distance IRONMAN race in the breathtaking Atlantic coastal town of Cascais. Historic monuments, palaces, and fortresses of bygone times over one of the most beautiful race courses ever designed for a triathlon.

Swim
A swim course with a rolling swim start. A single 3.8km loop course that leads athletes along the protected Cascais Bay, starting at Praia da Ribeira and finishing in front of the Fortress at the Clube Naval.
Transition will be at the Manuel Possolo Hippodrome, after a 600 meters corridor of red carpet for athletes to enjoy.
In October, the water temperature varies between 17 & 19 Ai¿½C (62.6 &66.2 F).

Bike
The 180 km two loop bike course offers breathtaking views of the Portuguese Riviera, Guincho Beach and the wonderful natural park of Sintra a" Cascais, which as a result of the improvements made to the route, will allow the athletes to pedal on roads that boast rare scenic beauty. A quick passage in Praia do Guincho leads to Malveira and Serra de Sintra by the Blue Lagoon, towards the Estoril Formula 1 Circuit.
With a new route this year, athletes get to enjoy smoother roads that takes you all the way to the turning point in Lisbon, passing by some of the icons of the Portuguese capital, such as the Tower of BelAm, the JerAi¿½nimos Monastery, and even under the 25th of April Bridge. The athletes will also enjoy a unique feature unlike any other IRONMAN event: a lap around the Estoril Formula 1 circuit.

Run
The 3 loop run course starts in Cascais, then follows the Guincho road along the coast to Cabo Raso and returns to the heart of Cascais. A challenging course, especially on a windy day. This run course is known for its awesome spectator support, specially with a new passage in Marina de Cascais, with cheers that will take you all the way to the finish line. The aid stations are approximately every 2km, allowing you to stay hydrated.
