The Howell Independence Aquathlon & Open Water Swim is a Swimming race in Howell, Michigan consisting of a 1 Mile.
The Howell Independence Aquathlon is a unique, multi-sport event which includes a 2k Run, a 750m swim and a final 2k Run. The run takes place through the Howell City Park and beautiful Lakeview Cemetery. The swim takes place in Thompson Lake off of Howell City Park. We also have a one-mile Open Water Swim. The all-inclusive price allows you to participate in both events, or choose one. The top 3 male and female in each age group will receive an award for the Aquathlon & Open Water Swim. The 1st place male and female and 1st place male and female masters will receive a trophy as well.

Wet suits are permitted at the Aquathlon but for health reasons, participants should not wear one if the water is 78 degrees or higher. Check with a race instructor the day of the event for details on the water temperature.
Also for safety reasons, it is required that each participant wear a swim cap while in the water. Swim caps make it easier for event staff and water safety boats to see participants in the water.
