The Scheels Healthy Human Race is a Running race in Rochester, Minnesota consisting of a Half Marathon and 5K.
This 13.1-mile and 5K certified course begins and ends in Soldiers Filed Park located near downtown Rochester. Youall experience it all on this one course: neighbors cheering on the city streets, geese floating on the rivers, the cool silence of the deep forest, and the roar of the crowds at the start and the finish. Start/Finish
The Half Marathon begins in Soldiers Field Park near downtown Rochester and finishes just west of Soldiers Field. Participants should gather in Soldiers Field Park along George Gibbs Rd for staging. Participants will finish on George Gibbs Drive SW., directly west of the Soldiers Field track.
All half marathon participants will receive a high-quality technical t-shirt and a custom finishers medal. Free recovery food and drink will also be available to runners and walkers after the event. Event registration is limited to 1500 participants for both the 5K and half marathon races. Sign-up early to guarantee your spot. All registered participants who cross the finish line will receive a finisher's medal.
Start Line
Start Line: The start line for both the 5K and the half marathon will be on George Gibbs Dr on the west side of Soldiers Field. The half marathon will start going toward Apache Mall, then following the Rochester bike paths around the golf course and south and east toward Slatterly Park, Bear Creek Park, McQuillan Park where the relay exchange will occur. Then along Marion Rd to 20th St SE to 11th Ave SE turning north past Mayo High School and rejoining the city bike paths along the Zumbro River back to Soldiers Field. The 5K will run the residential roads and bike paths in the immediate area of Soldiers Field. Terra Loco Pacers will be on the start line with the pace time signs. Half marathon runners are requested to start with the correct pace time group.
Pacers
Pacers will be present to assist you achieve your half marathon time goal. Pacers will be provided by TerraLoco and will lead runners to the finish line in the time indicated on the sign each will carry showing their designated timed goal. A pacer is an experienced runner will run at a pre-determined and consistent pace per mile in the half marathon. Other runners will follow or stay at that pace per mille to ensure that they are running at their desired speed. The Terraloco pacer will be a steady, consistent runner who will be focused on maintaining their speed and helping runners realize their goals. Running with a pacer will permit you to focus on your running without having to expend any mental energy on your pace. Keep your eyes on the pacer, focus on your running form, and listen to your body.
There is no need to sign up prior to the race for your pacer. Just find the designated pacer at the start line closest to your time goal and join the group.
Based on half marathon finishing times, the following pace groups are available: 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, and 2:30.
On the Course
There are 7 aid stations on the course serving up water and Gatorade. These are located at approximately miles 2, 3.25, 5, 6.8, 8.5, 10 and 11.8. Port-a-johns are located at the Start and Finish and adjacent to every aid station. Medical support is available along the course and at the finish line.
Awards for the 5K and Half Marathon
Overall winners and age group winners receive special recognition at an awards ceremony at Soldiers Field immediately following the event. Awards will not be mailed out. You must pick up your award in person or have someone pick it up for you.
Overall awards are determined by clock time. Age group awards are determined by chip time. Awards are also presented to the the top 3 male and female overall winners and the top 3 in all age groups:
