ABOUT THIS RACE:
Race Starting Location:
21st Ave E & E Interlaken Blvd, Seattle, WA
The Northwest Trail Runs Interlaken Icicle Dash is a Running race in Seattle, Washington consisting of a 5K Trail Run.
Named for a summer resort in Switzerland, Interlaken Park is a dense evergreen oasis. Catch a glimpse of the Cascades from this hillside park and heat up your winter by running up this green ravine. The fifty-one acres of dense forest that separate the urban neighborhoods of Montlake and Capitol Hill comprise Interlaken Park, named for a summer resort in Switzerland. Here you'll find towering trees, an enchanting collection of dirt trails and a tree-canopied, wide, paved road that's closed to motorized traffic and served as the principal bicycle and buggy path in the 1890s. Bicyclists still enjoy this quiet path as part of their city commutes today.
Interlaken Park 5k & 10k is the sixth of seven events in the Winter Trail Series.
The course starts with an out-and-back tour of the fairly flat, paved Interlaken Boulevard, where it is closed to car traffic through this forest park. The course then turns up a short staircase and onto dirt trails, including a climb to the top of the park and back down to Interlaken Boulevard for the short return to the start/finish. Each loop is 2.5 km. The 5k is two loops, and the 10k is four loops.
Aid Station
The aid station is located at the start/finish. 5k runners will pass the station halfway through their race (2.5k) as they begin their second loop. 10k runners will pass the aid station at 2.5k, 5k, and 7.5k.
The aid station offers water, electrolyte drink, and some carbohydrate-rich or salty foods, such as cookies, pieces of energy bar, gels, chews, chips, bagel, fruity candy, fig bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and bananas.
