The Wilenchik Walk for Life 5K Run is a Running race in Schertz, Texas consisting of a 5K.
There are moments in the course of a lifetime when we are forced to face the unimaginable. An unexpected turn of events can cause upheaval to normal day-to-day life, leaving with it a question which one cannot deny asking: why me? Those are two words Schertz City Councilman Tony Wilenchik refused to ask but, nonetheless, were inescapable.
Tony was diagnosed in 2004 with Stage-4 Leiomyosarcoma, a rare cancer, and given six to nine months to live. Tony's determination to face the disease head-on helped the City create a fund-raising event to help research cures for cancer. In 2009, the City hosted the inaugural Wilenchik Walk for Life event.
