The Vern's No Frills 5K is a Running race in Georgetown, Texas consisting of a 5K.

Let's celebrate the 100th running of Vern's No Frills 5k at Berry Springs Park & Preserve, 1801 CR 152, Georgetown, TX 78626. Unlike the other 99 races, there will be plenty of FRILLS!! Come out and share in the festivities. Run, walk or spectate & cheer the participants. Watch the Elite runners race starting at 7:30am. Visit the vendor booths. Wear test a pair of shoes. Visit Vern's memorial tree. Enjoy Berry Springs Park & Preserve!

History: The No Frills 5k was started in Apr 2009 and was renamed in tribute to Vern Cantwell, a dear friend who had a fatal heart attack while cycling with friends. He was the race's first starter and a runner's best cheerleader. Vern's No Frills 5K is held every third Saturday of the month at 8am. The event is free to students K-12 and Georgetown Running Club members and $1 for adults. The race was started to encourage adults and, especially children, to get out and participate in a fun, casual, and professionally organized race. Over 15,500 runners and walkers have finished a Vern's No Frills 5K event. Even only charging a very nominal amount the race has raised over $15,000 that goes directly back to Berry Springs Park & Preserve. The money has been used for a log splitter, wildflower seeds, stocking the fish ponds, stone half mile trail markers, certification of the trail, barn maintenance, and updating the interpretive signs.
