About The Ochoco Trail Runs
The Ochoco Trail Runs is a Running race in Prineville, Oregon consisting of a 10.5 Mile Trail Run and 100K and 50K Trail Run.
The Ochoco Trail Runs offer spectacular views of the Cascade Range. The trail winds through mixed conifer forest, old growth ponderosa pine, and many open meadows. During the Spring and Summer months there is an abundance of wildflowers in the meadows along the course. Wildlife include wild horses, elk, deer, and coyotes. All of the races start and finish at the Walton Sno park.
50 Mile
The 50 Mile is a single loop course with a short out and back on the south side of Lookout Mountain. The course begins with a gentle downhill out of Walton Sno park then moves onto single track through forest and meadows. 10 milesKeep Reading in, you begin a 7.5 mile climb to the summit of Lookout Mtn. After descending forested switchbacks to Upper Lookout Mtn AS, you will then follow the Independent Mine trail towards the summit of Lookout Mtn and drop down the south side via the Line Butte trail. The course reascends Lookout Mtn and takes you up and over Round Mtn as you make your way to the finish at Walton Sno Park. There is roughly 9000 feet of elevation gain/loss.
50k
The 50k is a single loop comprised of 80% single track trails with a mix of two track and dirt road. The course begins with a gentle downhill out of Walton Sno Park then moves onto single track through forest and meadows. 10 miles in, you will begin a 7.5 mile climb up to the summit of Lookout Mountain followed by a fun descent through forested switchbacks. The course then takes you up and over Round Mountain as you make your way to the finish at Walton Sno Park. There is 6250 feet of elevation gain.
10.5 miler
The shortest race of the OTR's, but it won't disappoint. It is an out and back that summits Round Mountain. 2/3 single track, and 1/3 dirt road with 1900 feet of elevation gain.
