About The Feed the Hungry SW Hope 5K
The Feed the Hungry SW Hope 5K is a Running race in Portland, Oregon consisting of a 1K Walk and 5K.
Simply, we run so our neighbors don't have to go hungry.
Neighborhood House, founded in 1905, has worked for over a century to meet the needs of low-income families, from children to seniors, living in the greater Portland community. They have multiple programs that provide for tangible needs, like food on the table, as well as the intangibles, like education.
Every spring, multiple Southwest Portland Faith Organizations and Community Partners join hands to meet the need of hunger specifically, by working to supply Neighborhood House's food pantry, the largest food pantry west of the Willamette.
What can $1 buy me at a grocery store? One, maybe two, cannedKeep Reading goods at the most. For $1, Neighborhood House can buy 4 pounds of food directly from Oregon Food Bank. We quickly realized we could turn a simple canned food drive into a huge tool to empower Neighborhood House and reach hundreds more hungry neighbors.
