The Just A Half Mile More 5K Trail Run is a Running race in Bellbrook, Ohio consisting of a 5K Trail Run.

Pete Livingston was a husband, father, friend, and mentor to adults and youth in scouting. Pete was also a retired Lt. Col. from the USAF and taught at Dayton Business Technology High School. He died May 18th, 2013 in a rappelling accident. It was way too soon for him to leave us all. Those connected with him have all been deeply moved, changed and stretched. He left a deep impression on those that he has left behind. You couldn't go on an adventure with Pete without becoming a better person. He always pushed us to the edge of our comfort zone so we could learn more about ourselves and discover how much more we were capable of than we realized.

You may be wondering where the race name came from? If you were ever out on the trail with Pete, you heard him say this, Just a half mile more. Encouraging us to keep going because we were almost there...sometimes we believed him...and sometimes we knew he was lying, but we would laugh, get our second wind and keep on going. Those of us who miss his company on the trail still say it...we remember him and know that we are probably lying to each other...and we smile and keep on going.

One of his many roles in scouting was on the Miami Valley Councils International Scouting Committee. The International Scouting Committee exists to make connections between our local scouting community and others around the world. Every year, as a cultural exchange, the committee facilitates bringing an international scout to the United States to work at Woodland Trails Scout Reservation. The committee has decided to host a 5k trail run/hike fundraiser to benefit the Pete Livingston International Scouting Fund.
