Kellie Hinshaw was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) in 2000 and again in 2007 in the left side of her face. In 2012, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in the right side of her face which occurred as a result of the radiation in 2001 and 2007. She was also diagnosed with ACC of the right lung at that time. In 2013, Kellie lost her right eye, cheek, and part of her forehead/cranium. Kellie endured countless surgeries to treat her ACC through tumor removals and cosmetic procedures.
On April 7, 2014, Kellie ran her final race and won the applause of heaven when she wentKeep Reading home to be with the Lord. She is survived by her husband, Richard, and their two boys, Kenneth and Kannon.
Kellie was a tireless advocate for those undergoing cancer treatment and spent countless hours encouraging others who were fighting their own battles. Through her work, the Kellie's Krew, Ltd. foundation was formed in 2013 to fund research, raise awareness, advocate for a cure, and provide financial assistance to those currently undergoing treatment.
