The Heart & Sole 5K Run/Walk is a major fundraiser for the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter and a wag of a great time!! Itas an annual event that draws animal lovers from all over to share the day amongst, with, and in honor of 4-legged friends. Friends, participants and canines descend upon the flat trails and picturesque backdrop of Duke Island Park for a day of NJ autumn fun in Bridgewater, NJ. In addition to the 5K event (Timed & USATF-certified), the day includes vendors, activities, raffles, K-9 demonstrations, live music, food, agility introduction, and of course, a chance to meet friends and furbabies.
SRAS is the little shelter with a big heart. Nearly 300 reviews on Facebook give it an average of 5 stars because of its knowledgeable staff and volunteers that are committed to finding forever homes, returning lost family members (typically 4-legged), and getting medical care for over 1,000 domestic pets, feral colonies and wild animals every year. 100% of all event proceeds benefit the animals. Monies predominantly go toward the Cupid Fund, a fund reserved for animals in need of more complex medical treatment than what an average shelter can typically provide. Shot gun start for the 5k Run at 9:30am sharp, followed by the 5k Walk beginning ANY time after 10:30am.
