ABOUT THIS RACE:
Race Starting Location:
6480 Beaumont Reservation Drive, High Ridge, CA
The Shippey Endurance Runs is a Running race in High Ridge, California consisting of a 100 Mile Relay (Ultra) and 100 Mile Trail Run (Ultra) and 100K Trail Run (Ultra) and 20 Mile Trail Run (Ultra) and 5K Trail Run.
Introducing The Shippey Endurance Runs so rightly named based on the trail color system used by the Scouts, after Merle Shippey a well-respected cog in the growth of the early scouting communities, each of which takes you on an adventure each of its own with every trail offering a different aspect of the Reservation. The Shippey takes you through all aspects of this magnificent wonder by creating an extremely runner, crew and aide friendly race.
Imagine setting up camp 10-100 yds from the Start-Finish line, the ease of seeing your runner or your crew every 3-5.8 miles! Save the gas money as there is no need to chase runners over miles of back roads. Shippey is minutes from Valley Park and Eureka, allowing runners and their crews the ease of re-supply and convenience of the general commute as well!
Will it be warm, Nah probably scorching it is St Louis in August (or it could be 65 and raining...it's STL after all) but what better way to test the limits of your potential and/or prepare for that fall race! If you want to run on an amazing trail system that will only be open to the public during this event....well, come run with us at The Shippey Endurance Runs! The course is set up as a clover leaf style with 5 small legs creating one large 20mi loop, each leg/loop being run in the clockwise direction. (5 for 100mi, 3 for 100k, 1 for 20mi) Each loop consists of a .25 road jaunt to begin before being gently thrown up a hill, with one other small section of road there should account for approx 2 mi of pavement over course of 100mi.
Each leg varies from the others offering steep climbs, ridgeline running, long descents as well as creek bottoms, pine floor, and jeep roads.
The mix of approx 75% single/double track, 25% jeep roads.
Every 20mi loop runs approx 2,600' of ascent, 2,500' of descent, or approx 14,000' over 100mi.
There will be 2 aid station setup on the course. AS 1 and 2 are the same location but remote from AS 3/4/5 all being the Start/Finish area. Leg 2,3,4,5 will begin by heading back up the trail you came into the aid station on you turn around and go back the same path you came in on where it will split sending you clockwise on path each time. The course has several existing trail markings, however, our designated markings will be the path to follow. Within a loop, the ribbons will always be on your right side of the trail. The exception will be every overlap between inbound/outbound of interloops where flagging will be on both sides.
