Jared Anez Memorial 5K - Willmar, Minnesota - Running

The Jared Anez Memorial 5K is a Running race in Willmar, Minnesota consisting of a 5K.

Jared was a father, husband, local agriculture business owner, school board chairman, and an active member of the Willmar community who passed away unexpectedly in March of 2017. Jared was passionate about education and a healthy, active lifestyle. A desire to help facilitate the education of Willmar area youth was what drove him to run for his position on the school board. While serving on the board, the expansion of Willmar Public Schools' facilities, Lakeland Elementary, in particular, was extremely important to him and he would have been very proud of the fine new elementary school we enjoy today. Therefore, we are honoring Jared's life and his commitment to our community with a 5k run/walk this summer that will begin and end at Lakeland Elementary. The race course will cover road, paved, and grass trail and will feature professional chip timing. Walkers are welcome, and a special discount will be given to kids and teens. Proceeds will be given in a scholarship in Jared's honor.
