What is the GOTR 5K Celebration? Why do we host our own event?

The GOTR 5K Celebration is the culminating experience of the Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole 10-week program that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. All season long girls have been working as a team to train for a 5K event while learning lessons that positively impact their competence, confidence, character, connection, and compassion! All of our 5K Celebration events are non-competitive, family friendly and open the community!

Girls on the Run of Central Michigan is hosting its events this season and intends to rotate where the 5K event(s) are held so that all of our communities have the opportunity to host and show their support of GOTR! Hosting our 5K Celebration events allows the focus to be all on our girls and their teams, mitigates multiple safety issues presented by joining an external event, and creates an atmosphere for our girls to be supported and to connect with other teams from the season.
