Every September, the Howard County Police Foundation hosts the Police Pace, a 5K race and 1-mile, fun walk and run at Centennial Park in Ellicott City. The goal of the event is to raise money to support the department with funding for special needs not met through the annual budget process and provide scholarships for officers' continuing education and training.
