SMILE pro-vides supported living services to Devel-opmentally Disa-bled adults in our community. SMILE works with individuals, their family members, and other provid-ers to ensure the individual's needs are met.
A generation ago, people with developmental disabilities were shunned by their communities, and sent off to institutions. We have made phenomenal progress in the last 50 years. However, they are still very vulnerable and need support to live in the community. Family members simply want a safe and comfortable environment for their loved one when they are no longer able to care for them. SMILE was created to enable adults with develop-mental disabilities to live in the communi-ty in a family atmosphere.
