About The Tenafly 5K

The Tenafly 5K is a Running race in Westport, Connecticut consisting of a 1 Mile Kids Run/Fun Run and 5K.

The USATF-sanctioned 5K Run is one of the largest 5K races in North Jersey, drawing more than 1,500 runners of all ages and abilities. After the runners leave the starting line, more than 100 dog owners follow them on the 5K course with their dogs. The day's other fun events include a dog parade, tiger cub races, and 1-mile fun run.

All proceeds from the event support the Tenafly Educational Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that funds teacher-initiated programs and projects in the Tenafly public schools that the school budget is unable to cover.

Timing:
The 5K Run uses ChronoTrack B-Tag electronic timing. All participants must wear a bibKeep Reading number on the front of their shirt. Awards are determined by clock time only. Click here for instructions for wearing your B-Tag.

*Tenafly grade awards are for all Tenafly residents and all students who attend any public or private school in Tenafly.
Awards are determined by clock time only. No duplicate awards.

5K Dog Walk:
The 5K Dog Walk starts at 9:05, after the 5K runners are on their way. It follows the same course as the 5K Run. The course has 5 water stations, which provide water for both humans and dogs. All dogs must be on a leash. For everyone's safety, extended leashes and hands-free leashes are STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
Awards: Top 3 Male and Female dog walkers.

Dog Parade:
The Dog Parade begins at 10:00 on the large field behind the gym at Tenafly Middle School. The course consists of several obstacles and judging stations for awards.

All dogs receive a medal. For everyone's safety, extended leashes and hands-free leashes are STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Tiger Cub Races:
The Tiger Cub Races, for children up to age 6, take place at 10:00 on the football field inside the track. Runners under 4 years old will run 25 yards; 4-year-olds will run 50 yards; 5-year-olds will run 75 yards; and 6-year-olds will run 100 yards.
All participants receive a medal.

1-Mile Fun Run:
The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades 1-Mile Fun Run begins at 10:30 outside the gym at Tenafly Middle School. The Fun Run is led by the Tenafly High School Track Team.
