The Hartford Marathon is a Running race in Hartford, Connecticut consisting of a Marathon and Half Marathon and Marathhon Relay and 5K.
The premier marathon and half marathon in Connecticut is a fall celebration not to be missed a" and it's on a new weekend in 2024. Set your calendar for the third Saturday of October (in observance of the Jewish high holiday) and get ready to achieve greatness! Be inspired with the glorious start in front of the majestic Capitol and the iconic finish line under the Arch at the Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon. The beloved New England road race tradition continues to deliver a top-notch experience with the highest level of safety and security for race participants, volunteers, spectators and the community.
Both marathon and half marathon courses will venture into the welcoming neighborhoods of West Hartford, full of cheering race spectators, with a short pass through beautiful Elizabeth Park. Marathoners veer off from half marathon participants and head over the Founders Bridge. Then, 26.2 mile runners will travel along the East Hartford side of the river before hitting the rural and scenic town roads of South Windsor, where the course highlights its quintessential New England charm. Journey back to Hartford to finish just past the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Arch in Bushnell Park and celebrate with food and music in the park and beer garden festivities.
The 13.1 mile course will run with the marathon to West Hartford and split back in Hartford, about 8 miles in, before half marathoners enjoy a run along the river. The downtown Hartford finish delivers that joyous and memorable moment crossing under the Arch, along brilliantly colored mums lining the path.
The Charity 5K will run through downtown Hartford. Expect a fast race for competitive runners that also welcomes casual runners and walkers to accomplish goals finishing under the arch.
Those looking for a fun way to get in on the action together with others can enjoy the Team 26.2 Relay with options for 2-5 team members to run in legs along the marathon course.

The race starts at the front steps of the iconic Connecticut State Capitol building, traveling west. The route travels past the houses of Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe (Miles 1-2). Upon entering West Hartford runners will pass the University of St. Joseph and enter into Elizabeth Park, home to the first public Rose Garden in the country (Miles 3-6). Progress back towards downtown Hartford and cross the Founders Bridge into East Hartford (Miles 7-9). Enjoy the beautifully maintained paved trails through Great River Park in East Hartford before beginning your journey through East Hartford residential communities (Miles 10-11). Begin your journey past charming New England homes and farmland along historic Main Street, South Windsor before turning for home (Miles 14-20). Run along East Hartford streets and cross the Founders Bridge back into Hartford to finish under the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch (Miles 21-Finish). The course is certified by USATF.
