ABOUT THIS RACE:
Race Starting Location:
441 Manitou Ave, Manitou Springs, CO
The Pikes Peak Ascent is a Running race in Manitou Springs, Colorado consisting of a Half Marathon Trail Run.
Registration
Because the Ascent and Marathon are so unique and so physically demanding when compared to other half-marathons or marathons, all runners must first complete a qualifying event before registering. See the Qualifications FAQ for details.
During registration, runners who have not completed either the Pikes Peak Ascent, Marathon, or BTMR in the past 3 years will need to provide four pieces of information: The name of the event, the year it occurred, the time you completed it in (gun or chip times are okay), and a link (URL) to the results page. Runners who have completed one of the Pikes Peak events in the past 3 years just need to check the box on the qualification portion of the registration form that indicates that they are a recent Pikes Peak veteran.
If the qualifications you provide can't be confirmed, you will be removed from the race and forfeit your entry fee! You will not be moved to another race, nor will you be allowed to transfer your entry to another person. This is a very expensive mistake so please avoid it.
Refunds, Switches, Number Transfers, and Deferrals
No refunds will be issued for any reason with the sole exception of Deployed Active Duty Military personnel in appreciation of their sacrifice.
Registration transfers are not accepted or permitted. If you are caught running with another runner's number, you and the person who supplied the number will be disqualified and banned from future races.
Entries are valid for the current year only and can not be deferred or rolled over.
Entry Limits
Pikes Peak Ascent: 1,800 runners
Pikes Peak Marathon: 800 runners
Pikes Peak Marathon, Inc. is an equal opportunity service provider and a permittee of the Pike National Forest. Entry limits are set by the Forest Service and are for the runners on the course, not registered runners.
Doublers
Only Peak Veterans who have completed the Pikes Peak Ascent or Pikes Peak Marathon in the past 3 years (2014+) may register for both the Ascent and Marathon (known as Doubling). Doublers will be charged an additional $50. This fee is intended to discourage runners from signing up for the double. Due to the US Forest Service imposed entry limits and the fact that the race sells out each year, every doubler takes up a slot that would otherwise be used by another person. The fee will also cover the cost of the Pikes Peak Doublers apparel that all doublers will receive this year.
To register for the Double, you must register for both races at the same time.
Award and Competitive Entries
If you are a Pikes Peak overall race winner from any year, 2016 top 10 overall / top 5 masters, 2016 1st place age-group winner, 2016 TCR Series top 5 overall / top 5 masters, or you are seeking a competitive entry, please see the Award/Competitive Entry Registration page.
