ABOUT THIS RACE:
Race Starting Location:
Lovell Canyon Road, Las Vegas, NV
The Labor of Love Races is a Running race in Las Vegas, Nevada consisting of a Marathon.
Commencing at an elevation of roughly 4500 feet, Labor of Love runners will experience high desert vegetation to include Joshua Trees, Pinion-Juniper, Mountain Rose, Sagebrush, and a relatively lush Toiyabe National Forest not commonly associated with Las Vegas. The road twists and turns through the canyon; a true treasure of the Spring Mountains N.R.A. enjoying temperatures ~10 degrees cooler than the Las Vegas Valley.
The 50 miler (7am start) runs along the paved Lovell Canyon Road as it twists and turns covering rolling terrain. Lovell Canyon Road is ~11 miles in length. You will run the first 26.2 miles together with the marathoners and 50K runners: At mile 11 marathoners, 50K runners and 50 milers will turn around and run 2.1 miles out and back along the same paved road, before returning to this same aid station. You will turn around again and return the 11 paved miles back to the finish line (Aid station aHomebasea for 50K and 50 mile runners). You will then run all the way out 11 miles, back 11 miles, bringing you back to Aid station aHomebasea at your mile 48.08. You'll then have one short final out and back victory lap of 1.92 miles to complete the 50 mile distance. You will never be further than 5.5 miles to your own drop bag (3 locations available). No one climb is too long and for many reasons makes for a great first 50 miler, a possible PR at the distance, while offering a challenge to seasoned runners. No pacers allowed for the 50 miler. Total climbing is roughly 4000a with a net zero gain. 12.5 hour cut off.
