This race has been around for 24 years and had been one of the more popular 5K's in Bergen County.
I run a lot of races (20+) a year, and I have to say I was very disappointed about this event. Online registration was a very difficult process that closed me out twice. I ended up registering day of the event. May I suggest using the Run sign website up to solve that problem and leave registration open till Thursday not Wednesday before a Saturday race. This was not a USATF sanctioned race or Grand Prix. A few runners did inquire why? A few veteran runners were there and I felt they were also disappointed with the event from the conversations I overheard. The course was well marked and traveled through the streets of Maywood. There were not many people out to cheer us on. A number of potholes along the course made running a challenge at times. The best part of the course was running along the nice downtown Main street. No chip timing. It was kind of nostalgic tearing off my bib number so I thought that was cool and didn't mind it. I'm still trying to find the results online??? Tech shirts with a lot of top name sponsors but the number of participants was less than 100. Medical support was on site. No bottled water or food at the finish line, just small cups of water. Medals to top finishers. No DJ. I would not recommend this race to anyone. This race is currently on life support. With the right people and commitments I still think there is time to revive it before it expires.
