Bad Kitty Trail-City 10K/5K - Florence, Alabama - Running

The Bad Kitty Trail-City 10K/5K is a Running race in Florence, Alabama consisting of a 10K and 5K.

If you have been apprehensive about trying trail running, this race is for you. You will experience 5k of the race in beautiful downtown Florence, followed by 5k on the trails of Wildwood Park. The course will be well marked and manicured with an aid station at the entrance and exit of the main trailhead. All distances will include a little over 1 mile road run decent/ascent to and from the trails in Wildwood Park from the UNA fountain. The 10-k will have around 4 miles of single track trail. Sections of the course will be very challenging and technical. This course is not a smooth rails-to-trails type event, and it is called the Bad Kitty for a reason. However, that is why you signed up right? The scenery is beautiful and inspiring with a mix of tall hardwoods and Cypress Creek bordering a side of the park. There will be two live lions at the start and finish of the race. There will be many curves, hills, uneven ground, roots, rocks, small water crossings, and a potential for muddy areas if it rains. The course path will change a little every year to highlight different areas of the park. How cruel of a route is picked will likely depend on the tyrant race director's mood when prepping the course. Please be sure to read the Potential Risks section below. The 5-k will only include 1-mile of less challenging trail section. This is a different set of trails than included in our fall Mountain Lion Climb fun run. It is designed for new trail runners or younger participants. While this trail will be easier it will still include hills and the same types of surfaces that may result in falling as the longer course.
